12-09

Impending Grade Freeze: Project 3 is now graded. You have until Wednesday, December 15 to request a regrade. After that the grades will be frozen.

12-07

Final: We have published copies of last semester final, including complete solutions (Thanks to Vahe!).

12-01

Homework 9: Homework 9 is now available. It is due Wednesday, December 1 before midnight. Paul is the TA in charge.

11-22

Project 3 Autograder: The pretesting autograder for project 3 is now running. You should get an email from the autograder within 30 minutes of submitting. As per usual, this autograder is not testing all of the cases that the final autograder will use. You should make sure to write your own test cases to verify that your code works!

11-17

Project 3: Project 3 is now available. It is due Wednesday, November 24 before midnight. Andrew is the TA in charge.

11-12

Moved Office Hours: Steven's Tuesday 3-4 office hours are cancelled this week. They are moved to Thursday 12-1 (same place as normal, 271 Soda).

11-12

Homework 8: Homework 8 is now available. It is due Wednesday, November 17 before midnight. Paul is the TA in charge.

11-09

Final Exam Location: The Final Exam will be held Tuesday, December 14 from 12:30pm - 3:30pm in 230 Hearst Gym.

11-09

Grades Frozen: Homeworks 1 to 4, Project 1, and the Midterm have been frozen (we won't admit any more complains). Project 2 will be frozen next Wednesday, so please check your grade this weekend.

11-09

No Lab This Week: Due to the Veterans Day holiday this Thursday we will not be holding any of the labs for 61c this week. Instead, the lab has been made available as a "take-home" lab. Please complete it sometime this week and be prepared to show it to your TA at the beginning of lab next week.

11-05

Midterm Re-Grade: The Midterm re-grades have been completed and entered into the gradebook. If your score on the Midterm changed due to the re-grade you will see the word "Regraded" in the comment line for the midterm in glookup. Of the 82 exams submitted for a re-grade, all but 25 saw some grade improvement. In particular, on the Floating Point question the average re-graded exam (that got any points back) got 2.36 points back and the new mean for the Floating Point question is 3.64 (as opposed to the previous 2.96). The new aggregates for the midterm are: Max: 74, Min: 13, Mean: 50.46, Median: 52, Mode: 58, Standard Deviation: 12.31.
You can pick up your re-graded midterm from your TA next week in discussion.

11-04

Homework 7: Homework 7 is now available. It is due Friday, November 12 before midnight. Andy is the TA in charge.

11-03

Project 2 Autograder Cases: You should now have an email to your 61c account detailing what autograder cases you passed and failed for Project 2. If you wish to run your own tests please see the table of input and expected output.

10-27

Homework 6 : Homework 6 is now available. It is due Wednesday, November 3 before midnight. Paul is the TA in charge.

10-27

Floating Point Regrade: The TAs have decided that the floating point (NICT0/PICT0) on the midterm was graded with too narrow of a grading standard. If you are not happy with your score on this question and would like a regrade (for just this question) just write "Float" on the top of your test and give it to a TA before Monday. This will not be a full regrade and your score can not go down as a result of this single-question regrade request.

10-25

Enhanced Midterm Solution & Grading Standard: An enhanced version of the solution and grading standard for the Midterm are now available here.

10-25

Verilog Tutorial Updated: The Verilog Tutorials linked in the "Reading" section for this week was updated early Monday morning to correct many bugs. If you have printed out a copy of the tutorial please check the Revision date near the top of the file and make sure it says 2004-04-26, which is the most recent version.

10-21

Midterm Solution & Grading Standard: The solution and grading standard for the Midterm are now available here.

10-20

Homework 5: Homework 5 is now available. It will be due before lecture on Friday, 10-29. Since the homework requires you do to some drawings you will have to hand in an actual paper rather than submitting online. You may give your submission to a TA anytime before the deadline to avoid using a slip day.

10-18

Midterm! See you in 1 Pimentel at 7:00.

10-14

A complete solution of the HKN midterm is available here.

10-13 Project 1 Autograder Remailing: This afternoon at about 6:30pm you should have gotten yet another autograder mailing to your 61c account. The autograder was re-written to provide much more extensive output about what went wrong with your submission. Hopefully this will help you to evaluate whether or not the autograder gave you a fair grade. If you find that the output that your program gave to the autograder is different from what you get when you manually test your code, then please contact your reader about the problem. Tell them exactly which test(s) you think didn't work properly for you in the autograder and which server you ran your manual tests on. To help you sort out just what is going on with your code, here are all of the final-test autograder inputs and their corresponding expected outputs.
10-13

Project 2 deadline has been extended to 11:59pm on Friday, October 15th.

10-13 Mid-Semester Survey: We have created a Mid-Semester Survey to gauge how the semester is going. This is to be done as part of Lab 7, but feel free to do it ahead of time. Follow the link in the updated Lab 7 to complete it. Please take the time to answer these questions thoughtfully and honestly. Your feedback will be taken very seriously and will be used to make an immediate improvement in the quality of this course. Your answers to this survey are strictly anonymous.
10-12 Spring 2004 Midterm: Please take the midterm from Spring 2004, which is available from HKN. When you finish, please score your exam using the provided solution and record how many points you earned on each question here. This is a required exercise and failing to submit a score (regardless of the score itself) will hurt your EPA points.
10-12 Project 2 Submission/Autograder: The Project 2 Autograder is now available. You should get an autograder response within 30 minutes of submitting. Just so everyone is clear, let's go over this one more time: The Autograder that runs during the submission period IS NOT the same Autograder that will be run after the deadline. The final Autograder, which will run after the deadline, uses many more test cases and is where your "Autograde" for the assignment comes from. To get a good grade on the assignment you will need to handle many, many cases that the pre-test autograder does not check.
10-11 MT1 review notes available
10-11 New Order of Course Materials: The ordering of Readings and Subjects has changed starting this Friday.
10-08 HW3 Autograder Mailing: We had originally decided for a variety of reasons not to mail out the final AutoGrader results from the homeworks. Due to public outcry, so to speak, the autograder results have been mailed. The results may be a little confusing, but if you think something is terribly wrong with your results go ahead and email your reader about it.
10-08 Office Hour Change: Paul has changed his Monday office hours from 1:00-2:00 to 5:00-6:00 in the same room (711 Soda).
10-07 Homework 4 Deadline Extension: Since the EECS servers disappeared on us for much of the night last night, the deadline to submit HW4 has been extended to midnight tonight (Thursday, 10/7). If you emailed your solution to a TA, please go ahead and submit it online as this makes the bookkeeping much easier for us.
10-05 Project 2 Is Now Available.
09-28 Project 1 Submission and Autograder: The submission and autograding system for project 1 is now available. If you submitted before 9:30 pm on 9/28 then you should have gotten two different autograder outputs at about 9:30 and 9:40. Only pay attention to the second one, the first run was buggy. Please remember, the pretesting autograder does not test all possible cases.
09-28 Homework 4 Is Now Available: It is a set of problems from P&H and will be due before midnight the night of Wednesday, October 6.
09-26 Office Hour Change: Slav's Friday office hours have been changed to Mondays from 3 to 4, 4th Floor Soda Alcove.
09-22 Project 1 Has Returned: Project 1 is now available. Start early! It will be due before midnight the night of Friday, October 1.
09-21 The Homework 3 Pretest Autograder is now available. You should get an email to your class account within an hour or two after submitting your assignment. If you submitted before 2:30 today (Tuesday) you should already have an email to your account.
09-20 A slight change in plans: We have taken project 1 back down to make some minor changes to it. It will be re-posted by Wednesday evening and will not be due until Friday, October 1. If you have already downloaded it, feel free to read it as the general idea will be the same. However, some of the requirements will be changing, so you would probably be best served by not starting to work on actual code until the new version is up.
09-16 HW2 Compromise: To correct for the fact that the autograder was not available until Wednesday afternoon we are offering the following compromise. If you submitted HW2 before the deadline Wednesday night but failed the autograder for a technical reason (used interactive prompts instead of command line args, Makefile did not build the right files, incorrect formatting of output, etc) then you may resubmit until 11:59:59 pm Thursday at no penalty. This will allow you to correct these minor errors without using a slip day.
09-15

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING COMMAND LINE ARGUMENTS FOR HW2.
Many of the submissions that have failed did so because they were interactively prompting for input. You MUST get the board state as a command line argument to get credit for this assignment.

09-15 Homework 3 has been published!
09-15 The pretesting autograder is now setup for HW2. You should get an email from the autograder within an hour or two after submitting. This email will tell you whether or not your submission passed the autograder's tests. This is primarily to help you fix formatting errors in your output. The autograder's tests will be different for actual grading purposes.
09-14 The Homework 2 Submission Tool is now available. Still working on setting up automatic email responses to verify submissions.
09-10 HW2 has been updated! Please, look at the file again and reload it to make sure you have the correct version. It should say that it is updated near the top. We scaled down the size of the board to reduce the complexity of solving the problems. If you already have a completely working solution for the old way, you can still turn it in, but it is highly recommended that you go with the new way instead.
09-08 HW2 is now available. Due Wednesday, 2004-09-15 23:59
09-07 The Homework 1 Submission Tool is now available. Fire at will.
09-04 The first reading quiz is now available. Please complete it before 9 am on Wednesday 2004-09-08.
09-01 New link at top of page "Buy Used PRS" can be used to access CalMatrix page for buying and selling PRS. WARNING: CalMatrix does not properly redirect after authentication.
09-01 The first reading quiz will be due 09-08 at 9am and will be available soon.
08-30 Welcome to CS61C! We look forward to a great semester with all of you.
